THE WAR AGAINST SELF

One of the greatest battles Christians face is not with the world around them but with the self within them.

Everything in our fallen nature wants comfort, convenience, recognition, and control. Everything about a servant’s heart pushes in the opposite direction.

That tension shows up every day.

Do we insist on our way, or do we make room for someone else?

Do we need credit, or are we content knowing God sees?

Do we serve only when it benefits us, or are we willing to sacrifice without reward?

The world tells us to protect ourselves at all costs. Scripture teaches us that some of the most powerful moments of spiritual growth happen when we intentionally place others before ourselves.

Having a servant’s heart does not mean becoming weak. It means becoming strong enough to lay aside personal preference for a greater purpose.

The battle against self is ongoing. But every victory over selfishness creates more room for Christlikeness to grow.
