Working The Ground
What does it mean to truly possess the promises God has given us? This message by Dylan Cottrill on Sunday, September 9th 2026 takes us back to the very beginning, to a garden where everything was in place, the soil rich with potential, the environment perfectly prepared, yet something was missing: someone to work the ground. Drawing from Genesis chapter 2, we are reminded that God provides the promise, but He also calls us to participate in maintaining it. The condition of our hearts is the soil where those promises either take root and flourish or get choked out by weeds we never bothered to pull. Proverbs 4:23 calls us to guard our hearts with everything we have, and this message unpacks exactly why that daily discipline matters. What we allow to grow unchecked on the inside will eventually show up on the outside, in our words, our relationships, our witness, and our walk with God. This is not a passive faith. It is a faith that rolls up its sleeves.
