Follow Me - Lesson One: The Good News

What do we do with the greatest news the world has ever heard? That question sits at the heart of this powerful message by Pastor Matt Cottrill on Sunday, September 20th 2026 about the Great Commission and our personal responsibility to share the gospel. We are challenged to consider a striking image: a driver who narrowly escapes a collapsed bridge, stands at the edge in grateful relief, and then simply drives home without warning anyone else. As uncomfortable as that picture is, it forces us to honestly examine whether we have done the very same thing spiritually. We have experienced repentance, baptism in Jesus' name, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost. We know what it feels like to carry the weight of the world into a church service and walk out transformed. But how often do we go an entire week without sharing any of that with someone who desperately needs it? The central truth is simple and sobering: what good is good news if we never tell anybody? The gospel was never meant to stop with us. It was entrusted to us so that we could carry it outward, into our workplaces, our neighborhoods, our family dinners, and every circle of influence God has placed us in. This message does not call us to guilt but to purpose, reminding us that the very Spirit living inside us is the same power that compels us to be witnesses beyond the walls of a sanctuary.
